Trellick Tower has been standing for over 50 years, as an icon of modern housing and community in West London. Its unique and striking presence is instantly recognisable from a distance. Up close it crowns a remarkable vista along the attractive market street of Golborne Road. Little wonder that cameras are so often pointed up at it from the pavements below. It is a truly remarkable building.
Equally remarkable - but perhaps less instantly recognisable - is the community of communities that lives in and around the tower. Residential estates, community organisations, businesses, bustling street market, schools, and a large college serve a diverse and culturally outstanding population. Golborne manages to genuinely mix a village feel with the cosmopolitan inner city.
However, beneath this 21st Century scene of the brutalist modern tower block amongst the diverse traditional village lies a harsh reality of stark urban deprivation.
The Golborne ward is in the top 5% most economically deprived wards in England.

Our first annual festival was held in 2022 to mark the tower’s fiftieth year. It was a part of 12-months of events, curated to celebrate our icon with our communities at the centre.
In establishing an annual Trellick Arts festival, our local icon now brings together an ever-expanding collective of cultural practitioners and supporters.
The annual festival is establishing itself as a ‘big splash’ Summer event that caps off a multitude of activities that happen in and around the tower throughout the year, including regular exercise sessions, public talks and smaller cultural events.
We bring our communities together through music, food, graffiti, film, broadcasting, literature, visual arts, theatre, combined arts, health and wellbeing, architecture, community action and development, participation and leadership.
We celebrate and share what we have, because what we have is a unique cultural and creative heritage and space. We love and cherish it and we know it has positive impacts for wellbeing and the local and wider economy that we can spread further.
